Guardswell Farm
Guardswell isn’t just a wedding venue, which we love about this Scottish wedding supplier. The property is a mix of creative spaces that just so happen to be perfect for a wedding.
Because of their busy calendar of events, dinners and overnight guests the family behind Guardswell keep their wedding bookings to just a handful a year, meaning that if you’re lucky enough to secure one of the dates you’ll get the best kind of customer service.
When we had a chat with them, here’s what they had to say about their beautiful farm, and the weddings they host there each year.
How would you describe your style?
In the building anyway, contemporary agricultural, we still do “rustic” but with thought through contemporary features, a bit of a scandi twist and the odd playful surprise tucked away. This means we've use natural materials, there are sharp clean lines and the space has shed loads of natural light. Generally our personal style lies somewhere between very minimalistic and natural chaos- like a bucket of larch branches against a white wall.
What makes you different?
Although we “do” weddings at Guardswell, Guardswell isn’t a wedding venue, and nor would we ever want it to be. Guardswell was designed as a space in which to inspire, educate and play, and weddings fall into the last category. Our weddings are totally down to earth, very fun, and our couples can all plant a tree to come back and say hello to in years to come.
What do you love most about what you do?
Meeting so many different people! It's probably the standard answer - but it's just been so special having the chance to meet the most fascinating people from all walks of life, and especially during such an exciting, love-filled time of their lives.
What's your favourite part of a wedding?
Our favourite part is the run up in the days before. The initial buzz, the anticipation, the sheer happiness when everything is set up - and then the moment when everyone goes into “and relax...” mode. Lots of couples (and their families and friends) have a cosy supper the night before in the Farmhouse, or take a walk up to the top of the hill to watch the sun go down over the Tay - we love seeing people enjoying and embracing the farm, it was why we decided to start “Guardswell", We wanted to share our little slice of the hidden Sidlaw hills.
Where do your prices start?
Accommodation prices start from £100 per night for a stay in a Hut, and wedding prices start from £6500 + VAT for a 2.5 day hire of the Steading.
